Types of International Internships

January 19th, 2009 by anderseriksson

This article explains a few things about Internship, and if you’re interested, then this is worth reading, because you can never tell what you don’t know.

To serve as a guide on international internships, it is important that you know the different types of international internships. Each type has its own positive and negative sides. However, picking out one would entirely be up to you.

Study Abroad Internships

The first kind of international program are study abroad internships. These are usually coupled with semester study abroad curriculums and can offer you the chance to learn more about the place’s local culture. This can be done through placing you in a position with a local business or organization, while at the same time taking academic courses that are credited for your degree.

The benefit in getting into this kind of program is that you can still continue your studies even though you are undergoing internship. Unlike in other international programs, all you would have to do is work for some company abroad. Here, you have part-time internship and part-time schooling.

Volunteer Internship Programs

Another type is the volunteer internship. This kind usually differs from traditional internship by letting you directly work with a group of people who have underserved needs.

However, you should not confuse it with strictly volunteering. A volunteer internship program usually involve some kind of reflective or academic component that allows you to contemplate on how your volunteer work is related to your field of study.

One example of this kind of volunteer program is Cross Cultural Solutions, which is a nonprofit organization that can place you on project sites in Southeast Asia, Latin America, and even Africa for duration of 3-12 weeks.

You can choose one of from the three areas. The kind of work usually focuses on education, health and social services. During the program, you get to work with their staff to discuss your learning goals from the program.

The information about Internship presented here will do one of two things: either it will reinforce what you know about Internship or it will teach you something new. Both are good outcomes.

Direct Internships With International Organizations

Getting a direct internship from an international organization is similar to having one with a local organization. However, this kind of internship is usually the most difficult to identify. This is because they are conventionally not part of a formal program. However, if you are looking for an economical international internship, then this option would be the best for you.

Internship Programs and Exchanges

This kind of program is quite similar to a study abroad program; by the way it is conducted. The main difference however, is that the core of your whole experience is concentrated outside your classroom.

There are program providers that can support international internships by offering an array of services like placements abroad for internship positions, accommodation, and even cultural activities. However, most of the time these program providers charge a fee for the services they offer.

This kind of internship is usually managed by an organization. It would typically require you some kind of local participation with the exchange organization that maybe related to a specific field.

One example of an international internship exchange program would be The International Association for the Exchanges of Students with Technical Experience (IAESTE). This is an international organization that coordinates practical training exchange programs for local chapter members of more over 90 countries worldwide.

However, to become a candidate for internship, you should be an active member of the local organization.

Now you know the different types of international internships, you can start deliberating on which type you think would do you good. There are a lot of different programs for each type; you can research most of them on the Internet. Each program can offer a different experience from another. It’s all up to you which one you think is the best.

There’s a lot to understand about Internship. We were able to provide you with some of the facts above, but there is still plenty more to write about in subsequent articles.

Some Terrier Dogs That You Would Find Interesting

January 14th, 2009 by anderseriksson

The following article includes pertinent information that may cause you to reconsider what you thought you understood. The most important thing is to study with an open mind and be willing to revise your understanding if necessary.

The personality of a lively child put into dog- this might be a good way of describing the general personality of terriers. But as it appears, that still would not justify their temperaments.

These dogs came from the British Isles where they were first oriented to hunting fox, rat, otter and the likes over and under the ground. And as its name suggests, ?terrier? came from the word ?terra? which means, ?earth?.

While terriers may be identified through their prominent physical characteristics, they are still divided into various breeds that separate one kind from another.

The following are the subgroups of the terrier breed:

Show Terriers- These are basically bred as small dogs and are used for show rings.

Bull and Terrier Types- these came from breeding between bull dogs and terriers. Only in the last quarter of 1800’s did the breeders separate a number of bull dogs from terrier types for distinction.

Hunting and Working Terriers- The breed that was primarily bred for hunting.

Toy Terriers- These are the smaller versions of terriers, which are basically categorized into the companion breed.

To help you understand the various natures of terrier dogs, we have prepared some dog profiles here, please read on.

So far, we’ve uncovered some interesting facts about Terrier Dogs. You may decide that the following information is even more interesting.

Airedale Terrier- This is known to be the largest dog in the Terrier breed. Standing an average of 23 inches from the shoulder, this dog shows off both beauty and elegance that make them fit for both dog obedience trials and show rings.

A cross-breed between Otterhound and Black and Tan Terrier, Airedale possess good skill in scent and superb swimming prowess.

Australian Terrier- Probably one of the dog types that have gotten to so many out-crossings with other dog breeds. A cross breed between the forerunner of Dandie Dinmont and rough coated terrier is said to have been migrated into England. The offspring of which was taken to Australia. With the scarcity of dog breeds in this land, many dogs had been crossbred into it which later resulted to a small type having the characteristics of terriers while being a good watchdog and ratter. It stands 10 to 11 inches with a life expectancy of 12 to 14 years.

Border Terrier- A True-blue working terrier, this dog is marked by its medium built while proving to work far better than what its appearance may give. Border Terriers are agile and alert while having the capacity to fit into narrow gaps especially during hunting.

Aside from its being affectionate and good adaptation to training, Border terriers can also make good family pets.

Bull Terrier- Originally bred for dog fighting and bull baiting, this dog is known to have been well-accustomed to courage and good resistance to pain. However, when the bloody dog fights were banned in England during the 1800’s, most breeders turned to breeding milder dogs.

Bull Terriers came from these fighting dogs combined with Dalmatian and English Terrier to produce all-white specie. This new breed though is very much reserved from starting fights which gave them the nickname ?White Cavalier?.

There are of course a variety of other terrier species. Initially, you might find them interesting enough to catch your attention but a closer look would lead you to further knowing them. Who knows, you might find your ideal type of dog in this breed.

January 14th, 2009 by anderseriksson

Hawaii is a popular destination for many vacationers. It’s no wonder with its gorgeous palm trees, and white sandy beaches. The vast array of water sports such as surfing, kayaking and snorkeling attract many vacationers yearly. But Hawaii is also a great place for golf. The big island of Hawaii has over 20 golf courses. The Four seasons Hualalai Course was designed by world famous golf pro Jack Nichlaus. The Mauna Kea Golf Course has been said to be the best on the island. While taking a break from a round of golf, guests at this hotel can relax at one of the most gorgeous beaches on the island.

The crescent shaped bay boasts white sandy beaches and is perfect for swimming and snorkeling. There are also a couple of noteworthy golf courses located in Hilo. Make sure to bring an umbrella. We play rain or shine here, as Hilo is known as the rainiest city in the world.

Lanai is known as the rich man’s paradise of Hawaii. So, it’s not surprising that there are some great golfing opportunities here. Lanai is home to not one, but two, world class championship golf courses. The experience at Koele, which designed by Greg Norman is set amongst the backside of Hawaiian mountains, making for a challenging and unique setting. The challenge at Manele is located at another world renowned resort and was also designed by Jack Nicklas. It’s amazing that he has time to play golf, with all that designing he’s been doing. Another place to play golf in Lanai is located in Lanai city, the Cavendish Golf Course. It is a local favorite and is open to the public. This course has 9-holes and does not have greens fee (bonus).

Now that we’ve covered those aspects of Hawaii Vacation, let’s turn to some of the other factors that need to be considered.

Maui offers as many or more places to play golf as the big island of Hawaii. The island offers beautiful vistas that make for the perfect backdrop for golfing. Kapalua and Wailea are the most well known places to play. There are also some championship golf courses located in the resort area of Ka’anapali. This resort area was once a sugar plantation, converted into a resort area by its owners.

Lanai as well, is not lacking in golf courses. There are nine great golf courses here. Half were designed by either Jack Nickluas or Robert Trent Jones. The Princeville courses have made a name for themselves as some of the most challenging golf courses in the world. Princeville is a resort community located on the North Shore of the island. While taking a break here, golfers can enjoy world class beaches, as well as fine dinning and exquisite shopping.

Let’s not forget about the island of Oahu. Oahu is home to several 18-hole golf courses all located fairly close to Honolulu. The Ala Wai Golf Course and the Ewa Villages Golf course are actually located in the Wakiki Beach Area. Here golfers should take a break to catch a wave on famous Wakiki Beach. Turtle Bay Beach Resort is located on the North Shore of Oahu. It is home to 2 spectacular golf courses. One of which, was designed by Arnold Palmer and the other by George Fazio. The resort itself is located on a great beach complete with a reef for snorkeling.

That’s how things stand right now. Keep in mind that any subject can change over time, so be sure you keep up with the latest news.

Cubic Zirconia Brooches

January 12th, 2009 by anderseriksson

Brooches have been used for hundreds of years. The Viking women used brooches to fasten two straps of their pinafores together. The brooches of that time were only serviceable so they were not decorated with jewels. However, through out history brooches have been used to hold up tunics, as a fastener for cloaks, or to hold up bits of material.

Brooches have been an important of the type of clothing worn for centuries. The jeweled brooches were not only enhanced with the addition of jewels and color, but they were still useful as well. Sometime in the Middle Ages the circle pin became the most typical brooch. Usually these jeweled brooches were inscribed for a loved one. A large number of the more elegant brooches appeared with the image of lovers formed in gold and enameled in bright colors. Some of the elegant brooches still in existence have religious scenes. They are often decorated with pearls and precious stones.

Today brooches have been used in various ways. They can adorn the lapel of a winter coat, or pin a scarf to a blouse or dress. Sometimes they will add decoration to a plain dress. Some of the circle one still can be found, but often times they will be in the shape of a dragon fly, a butterfly, a feather, or a flower. There are some shaped like snakes, turtles and other creatures.

These brooches are made from sterling silver, gold or platinum and decorated with gemstones, diamonds or cubic zirconia. Some of the brooches have no stones at all, but are painted to give them color. Some are plain precious metal.

The more authentic information about Cubic Zirconia Jewlery you know, the more likely people are to consider you a Cubic Zirconia Jewlery expert. Read on for even more Cubic Zirconia Jewlery facts that you can share.

If you are looking for brooches and are on a budget, I would recommend the cubic zirconia brooches. They can be set in a precious metal covered with small cubic zirconia stones and the cost will be around $50.00.

Brooches are a great gift idea mostly because many women don’t buy them for themselves. If they are given one, they will undoubtedly think of something they wear needing an added touch and the brooch would be perfect.

Beautiful brooches are not seen as often as they once were. Maybe we aren’t wearing them as often as we once did or even as often as our Mothers did. However, a brooch can be a lovely addition to your cubic zirconia jewelry. With all the colors available in the cubic zirconia and the affordable price we really don’t have a good reason for not wearing brooches more often.

Take a look at your wardrobe. See if you own something a brooch can enhance. If you wear blazers, the right brooch or possibly a lapel pin would compliment and help complete the look your blazer created. A heavy wool coat can always use a brooch for the lapel. The scarves you wear can be draped and held in place by a beautiful brooch. The cubic zirconia brooches are the best buy for your money. Try them with colored stones or try them natural. They will make you look like you are wearing diamonds and you don’t need to let them know any different.

Tips for Making Homemade Chocolates

January 10th, 2009 by anderseriksson

Chocolate is used in a lot of desserts. These include ice cream, soufflés, custards and a host of other dishes. Almost everyone loves it because studies have shown that it is an aphrodisiac. If you are too lazy to go to the store to buy one, why don’t you make it yourself by following these tips.

First, you have to get ready all the materials and ingredients you will be using. The two most important happen to be the chocolate and the mold both which can be purchased at the craft store.

Chocolate comes in many flavors. Some examples of these are bitter sweet, milk, dark, semi-sweet, sweet and white. These are often sold in blocks if you don’t have the time to convert these from cocoa beans. As for your molds, make sure that these are made from FDA approved food grade plastic.

You will also need sugar as this is a basic ingredient in most chocolates recipes. When you buy this from grocery, make sure that this does not have any trace of flour, salt or other kitchen ingredients.

Another important ingredient is unsalted butter. This is because the kind that contains salt is hard to ascertain and there are instances where it could spoil the taste of your dish. You must never substitute butter with margarine if you don’t have any because this will just make the cooking time longer as the water content here is much higher than that of butter.

There are three ways to liquefy chocolate before shaping this to its final form. You can heat this using the microwave, a double boiler or the oven. When making these into candies, it will be a good idea to also use a thermometer so you are able to monitor its temperature.

See how much you can learn about Making Chocolate when you take a little time to read a well-researched article? Don’t miss out on the rest of this great information.

If you are using a thermometer that has a bulb, make sure that it does not touch the sides of the pan because this could give you the wrong reading.

When the chocolate is ready, this is the time that you put these into the mold. So it doesn’t look messy, get some using a teaspoon and pour this into the cartridges. This is also the time you should add in other ingredients like peanuts, marshmallows or candy sprinkles.

If there are air bubbles, remove them by holding the mold a few centimeters from the ground and dropping it on the table. You may have to do this several times to make sure that there is nothing left then you put these in the freezer.

You should check on your chocolate molds after 5 to 10 minutes. The bigger the mold, the longer it takes but you can check if it is ready by looking at the back of the mold. If a graying figure appears on the bottom, this means it is ready to be removed from the mold.

Once they are removed, put this in a plate or in a box if this is going to be given away. As for your molds, wash them in hot water and never with soap because this will remove its stickiness.

It should be dried thoroughly using a dry piece of cloth and stored properly so it looks good as new when you need to use it again.

You won’t have any problems making home made chocolates as long as you follow these tips. Who knows, this could open new doors for you like starting your own business.

That’s how things stand right now. Keep in mind that any subject can change over time, so be sure you keep up with the latest news.

Gaining Weight Too Slowly During Pregnancy

January 8th, 2009 by anderseriksson

When you’re learning about something new, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of relevant information available. This informative article should help you focus on the central points.

Just as gaining too much weight can be harmful to you and your baby, not gaining enough weight can be harmful also. There are some women out there who are so terrified at gaining weight that they eat next to nothing during their pregnancy. Please do not do this, you could be depriving your baby of the vitamins and minerals it needs and you increase your chances of having a small baby. Babies who are underweight at delivery are at a greater risk for health problems than babies who are of average weight at delivery.

If you find that you have gained nothing during your first trimester, do not worry. Some women do not gain anything during those first three months and some even lose some weight thanks to morning sickness. Your baby’s needs are relatively tiny at that point. It is when you are in your second and third trimesters that you should make sure you are gaining weight according.

If you find that you are not gaining as much weight as you should, you should try to fatten up your diet. Increase your fat intake by a serving or too. This will increase your calorie intake but won’t decrease your appetite. Do not increase your fat by more than a serving or two. There are better and healthier ways to increase your weight gain.

Most of this information comes straight from the Pregnancy Nutrition pros. Careful reading to the end virtually guarantees that you’ll know what they know.

If you are one of the lucky few women who do not gain weight easy, you might not want to foods with the lowest amount of calories. You can still eat healthy but you want to up your calorie intake. Try eating avocados and more cheeses along with some beans too. Indulge in some snacks also. Try to add at least three snacks into your schedule. Make sure you have a decent amount of calories but not so many calories that your ruin your appetite for your next meal. If you are not allergic to peanuts, try some apple slices with peanut butter or some whole wheat crackers which some low fat cheese slices.

Take some time out of your busy life to relax. Not gaining enough weight could be a sign that you are doing too much. You could be burning up the calories you eat instead of using them to nourish your baby. Try cutting back on your exercise if you have an exercise routine. You also want to make sure you eat after a workout to replace the calories you just lost. If you are working while you are pregnant and it is a stressful job, make sure you take the time out of your busy day for lunch and snacks.

Throughout all of this, check in with your doctor. Your doctor may want to run some tests to make sure that you do not have a thyroid condition or any other undiagnosed medical problem that might keep you from gaining weight. You may also want to keep track of what you eat so you can show your doctor and talk about any changes that might need to be made to your diet. You may not be eating enough and you may find that you need to eat more.

I hope that reading the above information was both enjoyable and educational for you. Your learning process should be ongoing–the more you understand about any subject, the more you will be able to share with others.

What?s a Career in Personal Finance?

January 7th, 2009 by anderseriksson

Imagine the next time you join a discussion about Finance Career. When you start sharing the fascinating Finance Career facts below, your friends will be absolutely amazed.

A lot of people often don’t know what they want to be. Those who enter college will often get the course they thought they are interested but later on will change courses as they come to realize their actual calling. For me personal finance was one of the courses in college that really called out at me.

You might say it yelled at me. ?Take me as your college course!? That would be ho personal finance would be yelling inside my head. It may be weird to some of you but to most of you who had that epiphany of what you want to be, I know you can relate to what I mean.

To the uninitiated, personal finance is simple taking care of your own or someone else’s money. Although, there’s truth to that, but the process and the responsibilities are not as simple as what you might think. Personal finance is using financial principles to help individuals, families, or a singular unit get money, use that money wisely, save some, learn existing and possible life risks that would affect how they will gain and spend their money.

Okay, it may sound simple but combining all these principles to elements like checking and saving accounts, insurance policies, tax management, credit card loans, investments, retirement plans, and social security benefits, efficiently managing the finances is definitely a challenge.

Part of your job as a personal finance professional would be informing people how their financial decisions will come into play with their lives today or in their future. It is your responsibility to educate them on the consequences of their financial actions. With this in mind it is important to provide regular assessments of the client’s finances. Reevaluating the steps that were previously undertaken for financial gain and security should be conducted also on a regular basis to keep the financial situation updated and always in perspective.

Knowledge can give you a real advantage. To make sure you’re fully informed about Finance Career, keep reading.

Assessing where you are so far financially would mean getting all those balance sheets and income statements in order and trying to balance the values. Simple balancing of assets and liabilities is always the first step in assessment.

Once you know where you stand, you can set goals and objectives. It’s planning aside where you will be financially in say ten or fifteen years. Living off your pension after ten years, enjoying the good life is a goal that most people set for themselves. This is a good goal, since after working for years you earn the right to live the rest of your life relaxed and comfortable. Personal finance professional is supposed to help clients reach their personal goals.

To reach their goals, it is imperative that one has a concrete plan of action. In this plan, financial details will be laid out. Short term and long term goals with corresponding financial computations will help make overall financial planning a lot easier both for the client and the personal finance professional .

Now, assessment, setting objectives, and planning can all be tiring and time consuming stuff but the reason for all these meticulous planning is to ensure that implementation of the personal financial plan will go smooth. Admittedly, the most difficult phase of personal finance management is setting the plan in motion and sticking to it. Discipline is the word here. You need to constantly remind yourself of your final goal to keep you motivated and stick to your financial plan.

With this in mind, it would be important to conduct regular assessments and evaluations along the way. This will keep you focus and see if you have deviated from the main financial plan. You can put yourself back on track through regular reevaluation of your financial status.

This is basically what a career in persona finance will take you. Focusing on individuals or families and helping them with their financial management while incorporating philosophies, ideas, and elements of business and financial management techniques. Is this for you? For me it is.

Little Known Facts About Cubic Zirconia

January 4th, 2009 by anderseriksson

The more you understand about any subject, the more interesting it becomes. As you read this article you’ll find that the subject of Cubic Zirconia Jewlery is certainly no exception.

Cubic zirconia is a man made gemstone resembling a diamond used in jewelry settings. German mineralogists discovered cubic zirconia in its natural setting in the early nineteen hundreds, but has not been found since. It was originally created to use a refractory material, which is impervious to heat and chemical damage. Scientists developed cubic zirconia as a new material to be used in lasers and other optical operations.

The cubic zirconia you see today has been created in a laboratory by combining the metals of zirconium and oxide through extreme heat and a monitored cooling process. The temperature required to melt the zirconium is so extreme platinum containers could not be used in the melting process. Soviet scientists developed the method still used today to create the carat stones of cubic zirconia. The process entailed using the zirconium itself to hold the molten form of zirconium. The extreme temperature used to melt the zirconium is created by the use of a very large microwave. It allowed the center zirconium to melt while the outer layer remained cool and solid to hold the molten form. By 1980 there were 50 million carats of cubic zirconia created annually by using the method originally developed by the Soviet scientists.

You may not consider everything you just read to be crucial information about Cubic Zirconia Jewlery. But don’t be surprised if you find yourself recalling and using this very information in the next few days.

The production of the cubic zirconia, the melting and cooling of the zirconium metal combined with the metal oxide, formation of columnar crystals are produced and then cut into gemstones. Recently manufacturers have been covering the cubic zirconia with a thin layer of carbon. The process has resulted in making the material harder. It has also given the material a more radiant, diamond-like look overall. Covering the stones with a very thin layer of metal oxide creates the iridescent effect. Unfortunately the effect is not permanent; a simple scratch can easily remove the layer of metal oxide.

Because the cubic zirconia so closely resembles a diamond, only a trained eye can distinguish which stone is the diamond. The differences between the diamond and the cubic zirconia can only be seen under a microscope. The notable differences seen under the microscope can be the distribution effect the cubic zirconia has on light. The cubic zirconia is not as hard as a diamond. A cubic zirconia will weigh more than a diamond of the same exact size. The cubic zirconia has in essence no flawless unlike a diamond. Under a microscope the cuts made in a cubic zirconia have notable differences to the cuts of a diamond. A diamond is rarely a colorless stone where as the cubic zirconia can be made with no color at all. Cubic zirconia can be made in almost any color one could wish for. To produce the color in the cubic zirconia different metal oxides are used to create certain colors.

Cubic zirconia did not come make its introduction to the market until the late 1970s and has since had a huge impact on the jewelry industry. Because the inexpensive cost of the cubic zirconia, its resistance to wear and its close resemblance to the diamond, the cubic zirconia has become one of the most used gemstones as diamond replacement since its introduction to the market in the 1970s. The cubic zirconia’s main competition was just recently created is a synthetic monissanite. However, cubic zirconia has retained its popularity in the jewelry market. Many people wanting the look of diamond jewelry without the price tag of diamond jewelry will opt of the cubic zirconia jewelry instead.

Take time to consider the points presented above. What you learn may help you overcome your hesitation to take action.

Why Move a Business Overseas

January 3rd, 2009 by anderseriksson

Many people wonder whenever they hear of somebody moving a business overseas. They often wonder at the reasons behind the move. Reasons for moving a business overseas may either be good or bad. These reasons can be categorized into three:

1) Opportunities ? often, people move their business overseas because of an opportunity. Opportunities are events which, when reacted to properly, can cause the improvement of a business. People often need to look very far in order to find opportunities. Sometimes, opportunities can be found overseas.

One common reason why people move their business overseas is an open market. There are times when people have a hard time with a business because of competition. Because of competition, people often lose a lot of cash. A good entrepreneur, however, will not give up because of competition. He will look for new opportunities and new markets where he or she can dominate. People moving their business overseas often do so for the reason that their business may not have a lot of competition over there. They might move their business overseas because they see a potential market for their product which they can dominate.

Another opportunity is a reduction of costs. Some people move businesses overseas because doing so will increase their profit. Think of Nike and Adidas. These companies have factories in Asia because of the fact that labor can be much cheaper there. This means that their profits will increase by moving their business overseas.

Those of you not familiar with the latest on Moving Overseas now have at least a basic understanding. But there’s more to come.

2) Threats ? there are people who move their business overseas because of the fact that there may be some threat in their current location. As said before, most move because of heavy competition. This is a threat. If you say that this example is not really distinguishable from the first reason then you should be enlightened. In the first reason, an entrepreneur sees a new opportunity in another place and therefore moves the business overseas to take advantage of that opportunity. When facing a threat, an entrepreneur moves the business overseas because not doing so could spell doom for the business.

Threats are events in the environment which, when not handled properly, can cause very bad things to happen to a business. Often, moving a business overseas can be the best way to evade those threats.

3) Miscellaneous ? there are people who move their business overseas for no apparent reason connected to the business. If moving the business overseas does not take advantage of an opportunity or does not really get rid of a threat, then moving the business overseas must be for a reason related to the entrepreneur.

There are times in a person’s life that he just wants a change. He might want to feel the thrill of starting a new life. We all know, however, that people cannot just move without some means of supporting themselves. Sometimes, moving a business overseas can just be a part of the person’s migration.

Moving businesses overseas may seem like such a random thing to do. However, you need to understand that everything has a reason.
